Position Overview
We are seeking a Accident Reconstruction Engineer to lead complex investigations and provide expert analysis in vehicle collisions. This role demands a high level of technical expertise, analytical thinking, and the ability to communicate findings effectively to clients and in legal settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and conduct detailed analyses of motor vehicle collisions, including multi-vehicle crashes, commercial vehicle incidents, and pedestrian or cyclist-related accidents.
- Perform field inspections of crash scenes and vehicles, collecting data, measurements, and photographic evidence.
- Retrieve and analyze Event Data Recorder (EDR) data and other digital evidence, such as body-worn camera footage and surveillance videos.
- Utilize advanced crash analysis tools and software, including Recon 3D, Drone, FARO, and others.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and provide expert testimony in legal proceedings.
- Stay current with advancements in crash reconstruction methodologies and technologies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, Forensic Science, or a related field.
- ACTAR accreditation or the intent to pursue.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with CAD or simulation software is advantageous.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple investigations simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to travel for fieldwork and inspections, occasionally on short notice and/or overnight.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of crash reconstruction coursework from institutions such as IPTM or Northwestern University.
- Experience working with law enforcement or legal professionals.
- Proven track record of providing expert testimony in court.
Physical Demands and Travel Requirements
- Ability to perform field inspections, including lifting and moving up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent travel, including out-of-area and overnight trips, may be required.
